The Case of James Bulger

 The case of James Bulger James Patrick Bulger was born on the 16th of March 1990 in Kirkby, England. The crime took place on Friday12th of February 1993 meaning James was 2 at the time of the attack. On this day, James Bulger was out with his mother at the Bootle Strand Shopping Centre. On the late afternoon they went to the butchers and his mother was distracted and took her eyes off of him as she placed her order. In this time where she was doing so, James had disappeared. The police was later called as the security staff failed to locate him. She gave a precise description of him saying he was wearing a blue coat with a hood and mustard lining, silver-coloured tracksuit bottoms and white trainers. Denise, James's mother was distraught as it came up to 5:30pm and the shopping centre closed for the day.   James Warren Jones or more familiarly knows as Jim Jones was an American mass murderer and Cult leader of the Peoples Temple. Jim Jones was born on May 13th 1931 to mother Lynetta Jones and father James Thurman Jones. Jim, from a very young age, had an intense infatuation with religion and the power the church had. Jim Jones had what many would describe as a difficult childhood, neither of his parents worked so they lived his fathers disability payments and whatever money James could get from working various jobs, meaning that their family was very poor and had no plumbing or electricity. He was also regularly beaten by his mother, Lynetta, who largely influenced his obsession with spirituality. He was raised as the adopted son of his grandparents and was told that his mother was his sister. Some may argue that the maternal deprivation he experienced was an influence on his later behaviour. This links back to the individualistic theories (Bowlby's Maternal Deprivation Theory) that we learnt in Unit 2. Despite this, Bundy grew up in a content, working-class family.  Bundy showed an unusual interest in the macabre at an early age. His fascination with knives began from as early as 3 years old. Criminology is a compelling subject covering many different types of crimes, a variety of case studies, theories behind criminality and more. It varies from other a level subjects as you have the opportunity to understand crime in society whilst also considering a criminals POV towards how and why they commit crime.  @ SGS College you sit controlled assessments in December (2nd year) and January (1st year) where you are tested on your ability to write long formatted essays from notes obtained from class. In Year 1 your creative ability is also tested when you are required to make a campaign-for-change.
