 Post-A level options for Criminology

Once you finish studying criminology at Sixth form, you can choose to study it at university

There are many variations of courses in the criminology field. 

  • If you enjoy psychology, you can combine both subjects to develop an understanding of how crime occurs and who commits it. 
  • Forensic science is the use of scientific methods to investigate and and analyse evidence in relation to criminal law. 
  • Forensic Psychology applies the knowledge of psychology to the legal system, involving crime scene analysis , criminal profiling, risk assessment and therapy
  • You can also apply criminology to policing; gaining knowledge, skills and experience for a role in the police
You can also choose to do a degree apprenticeship. 

This will allow you to apply your knowledge of crime to the real world. 
  • If are looking to join the police force, you can do a police constable degree apprenticeship. This allows you to earn a salary whilst you learn policing skills. 
  • You can also do a paralegal apprenticeship, which will involve preparing and drafting legal documents and taking witness statements. 
  • You can become a solicitor via a solicitor apprenticeship, which will involve working in the legal sector.
